About the piece
Evanesce – to pass out of sight, memory, or existence.
To be seen through your lens or another's.
This piece depicts how we fade from each other’s memories, not all at once, but gradually. I wanted time to be portrayed as a dance, elegant and fluid. The covered face symbolizes that she has already been forgotten, while the weathered clothing signifies that her body will soon follow.
Throughout the composition, elements of nature weave into the narrative. Ripples represent both water and fingerprints, a trace of existence dissolving. The small circles in the background resemble grains of sand in an hourglass, disappearing from the top first, just as memories fade in fragments. In this space, the leaves dance, welcoming her return to nature, a reminder of where we came from.
"Farewell forever."
